Rita Gilby 100 Birthday. On Saturday 16th March 2024, Rita Gilby celebrated the occasion of her 100th birthday with a party which included grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, neighbours and WI friends. She had earlier received video messages from her other family members who live in Queensland Aus, Tasmania and Vietnam. Rita has lived in Bosham for 77 years, moving there after meeting her husband Sonner Gilby whilst both were stationed in Harwich during the 2nd World War. She continues to follow many hobbies, is an avid gardener, keen member of the Bosham WI, a great Quizzer and Scrabble player. When asked recently what her secret was to a long life she said stay in touch with family, keep active, and socialise, oh and cod liver oil!
